Ron Wintersgill here!!
My name is Ron Wintersgill, and I'm an advanced drummer located in Northeastern Maryland along the Chesapeake Bay. I have been visiting Joe's website now since the summer of 2011, and I must say that I really enjoy all the Joe has put out here for us! The great grooves, lessons, and drum stuff has been quite helpful as well as challenging, and I plan to jump into the masterclasses this winter as well. I am a busy drummer, working with a great Blues act, Dockta D & The Infirmary. www.docktad.com & I am also a drummer for hire doing many gigs with other bands as well as some studio work when the need arises.
I studied drums with a great instructor, Mr. Jackie Browne (www.jackiebrowne.net) who taught me the in's and out's of Jazz Drumming, including the Big Band sounds that I had always loved growing up as a child. My passion for the drums has stuck with me throughout the years, and at age 48, I am still looking for new and exciting things to keep me on top of my game as a drummer. I enjoy learning new and challenging grooves and time signatures, and I really enjoy talking with other drummers about what they are doing, what they are using, and just talking and playing drums in general. No trade secrets or ego issues with me! I share with everyone as well as ask questions of those that have something new that I would just love to be able to learn and perform so that I can place it into my "drummers' toolbox". Please feel free to share or discuss your passion for this wonderful instrument, and I will do the same!
Hi Ron,
Welcome to the Forum. I think it's great that you've retained your passion for drumming. I think that's what it's all about. When it stops being fun I'll do something else :)
I'm currently finishing up a new SoloWorkshop breaking down a crazy solo by Chris Coleman. I've learned a lot through transcribing it and memorising the parts. I still can't play it all - but I love that challenge of knowing exactly where you're trying to get.
Good to have you on board!
All the best,
Joe
